Condé Nast reaches deal with union, avoids Met Gala picket

Condé Nast has reached a tentative settlement on a contract with the union representing workers of the shiny journal writer — sparing Anna Wintour the prospect of getting staffers picket the Met Gala Monday evening.

Over the weekend, the union threatened to cause a scene on the glitzy fundraiser.

Condé Nast Chief Folks Officer Stan Duncan shared information of the settlement late Sunday evening, writing to workers in a message obtained by The Publish, “On behalf of the administration bargaining committee and leaders all through the enterprise, we’re happy to return to tentatively agreed phrases on a contract with the union.”

“This union consists of GQ, Attract, Vogue, Vainness Truthful, Glamour, Bon Appétit, Epicurious, Self, Teen Vogue, them, Condé Nast Traveller, Ars Technica, Wired, Pitchfork and Architectural Digest, along with crew members in viewers growth, commerce and video.”

On Monday the union, which represents greater than 500 workers, expressed its pleasure that their pledge to do “no matter it takes” to safe the contract forward of “Style’s Greatest Night time.”

“WHEN WE FIGHT, WE WIN: We’re excited to announce that we’ve got a tentative settlement with @condenast on our first contract. Our pledge to do ‘no matter it takes’ forward of the #metgala2024 moved the corporate and our progress on the bargaining desk kicked into excessive gear…” the union wrote on X.
