Former Columbia football star Marcellus Wiley discusses student protests: ‘I’m disgusted’


Former NFL defensive end Marcellus Wiley stated he’s “disgusted” by the occasions going down at Columbia College. 

Wiley, who performed school soccer at Columbia, just lately joined Dan Dakich on OutKick’s “Don’t @ Me” to handle the continuing protests on the Ivy League college. Related demonstrations have been taking place at school campuses throughout the U.S. in latest weeks.

“I am disgusted,” Wiley started. “I do not decide the political aspect… it would not matter what aspect you might be politically on this one. You do not have the appropriate to protest and be unruly. Now peacefully protest, go do it.”

Wiley argued that protesting was not the “finish all be all.”

The previous Buffalo Bills defender added that college students’ actions might influence their future.

“So I do not know why these children are going to this extent… creating encampments, destroying their college, their property, their popularity, as a result of while you go away individuals ask ‘The place did you go to high school?’ after which their minds goes to 2 locations. Wiley then pointed to Stanford University’s dealing with of scholar protests.

“I want we’d’ve dealt with it like Stanford. Like at different universities throughout the nation, some college students at Stanford have created an encampment within the White Plaza portion of the northern California school campus to protest Israel’s army offensive within the Gaza Strip. 

Stanford President Richard Saller and Provost Jenny Martinez stated the scholar encampment violates polices that prohibit in a single day tenting on campus. The college has submitted the names of scholars caught violating campus insurance policies to the Workplace of Group Requirements (OCS) for disciplinary proceedings, they stated. 

Protest organizers have decried the college’s response to the scholar protests.
