Paris organizers defended the Olympics opening ceremony on Sunday amid backlash over the obvious mocking of The Final Supper throughout the efficiency.
The opening ceremony drew condemnation from American leaders, world leaders, Christian teams and athletes alike over its depiction of one of the revered events in Christianity.

The ceremony’s phase appeared to resemble an outline of The Final Supper, famously painted by Leonardo da Vinci. The efficiency ensemble included drag queens, a transgender mannequin and a unadorned singer who was stylized to resemble the Greek god Dionysus.
Paris 2024 spokesperson Anne Descamps spoke about it on Sunday.
“Clearly there was by no means an intention to point out disrespect to any spiritual group. (The opening ceremony) tried to rejoice group tolerance,” Descamps informed reporters, via Reuters.
“We imagine this ambition was achieved. If individuals have taken any offense, we’re actually sorry.”

One other French LGBT chief urged the ceremony didn’t go far sufficient.
